How do I customize the Chrome new tab page?
Install Hoome from the Chrome Web Store. Your next tab opens on your own page: add your sites, tidy them into folders, pick a background.
Why does Chrome show a grey bar at the bottom of the page?
Chrome adds it to every new tab page provided by an extension. No extension can remove it. It disappears as soon as you click elsewhere on the page.
Does Hoome send my data anywhere?
No. Your shortcuts, folders and notes never leave your browser, and no version measures your usage. Only Premium asks for an account, which knows nothing but your address and your subscription. In strict privacy mode, no network request is made at all.
Can I import my Chrome bookmarks?
Yes, by ticking the folders to bring over. The rest of your bookmarks is ignored.
How do I get the original new tab page back?
Remove the extension from the Chrome extensions page. Export your setup first if you think you may come back.
Is Hoome free?
Yes, with no time limit and no advertising. Premium lifts the limits of the free version, and can be tried for fourteen days on the yearly plan. Privacy is not part of it: it is the same in both versions.
How do I try Premium?
Sign in with Google, then take the yearly plan: the first fourteen days are free. Your card is asked for, and the first payment only happens on the fifteenth day. Cancel before then, in two clicks from your account, and nothing is charged. Your folders and shortcuts stay in place either way.
What happens to my folders if I do not take Premium?
They stay. Beyond the free limits, folders after the fifth and shortcuts after the hundredth become readable but not editable. Nothing is ever deleted, automatic backups keep running, and JSON export stays available in every version.
Will there be advertising one day?
Not today, and not in the plan. We would rather sell comfort than sell the removal of an annoyance we introduced ourselves.
Is privacy reserved for subscribers?
No, never. Strict privacy mode, the absence of an account for the free version and the absence of analytics are in every version.
Do I need an account?
Only for Premium, because a subscription has to belong to someone. You sign in with your Google account, with no password to remember, and only once: signed in within the extension, you are signed in on hoome.dev too. The free version works with no account at all.
How do I cancel?
From your account page on hoome.dev, in two clicks, without writing to anyone and without giving a reason. You keep access until the end of the period already paid for, and no data is deleted.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes. Every payment gives an invoice you can download from your account page, and you can add your company name and VAT number to it if you need them.
